Guests Clair Doubleday and Paul Seedhouse recently visited &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and captured these extraordinary photographs of a male lion that was persistent about seeking shade next to an &Beyond vehicle. While on an afternoon game drive on the Crater floor with &Beyond guide, Vicky Simbeye, they witnessed a coalition of five relaxed male lions. Our expert guides are renowned for their sensitivity and for always maintaining a safe and respectable distance from high-profile game. In the Crater, however, there is often no other shade than that of the vehicles for miles and miles and the lions often seek refuge. This particular lion was determined to escape the midday heat. Each time he settled, the vehicle was carefully and safely repositioned, but he just didn’t want to give up, giving Clair and Paul memories to last a lifetime!
